The Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), vigorously working with researchers and various organizations intend to
promote sustainable research culture and funding the research projects which obviously beneficial for growth of researchers and as well as
growth of national economy.
Director ORIC
Mr. Muhammad Haroon Yousaf is working as a Professor of Computer Engineering at University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, Pakistan.
He has more than 19 years of teaching/research experience. His research interests are Image Processing, Computer Vision, and Robotics.
He is also the Director of Swarm Robotics Lab under national Centre of Robotics and Automation Pakistan. He has published more than 100
papers in International SCI-Indexed Journals/Conferences. He has secured many funded (Govt. & Industry) research projects in his
areas of interest. Prof Haroon has received the BEST UNIVERSITY AWARD by HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSION, PAKISTAN in 2014. He is a
Senior Member of IEEE and SPS. He is also serving as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems on Video Technology (TCSVT).
He is also appointed as Professor Extra Ordinarius at University of South Africa since February 2023. He has presented his research as

Manager Research & Development
Dr. Fawad Hussain, Assistant Professor performing as Manager Research & Development at ORIC. His research interest areas include
Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Network-on-Chip, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision & Image Processing and
Speech & Audio Processing. Furthermore, he has a wide range of experience in administrative positions.
Deputy Director ORIC
Mr. Ahmad Noor, performing as Deputy Director ORIC; he is equipped with more than two decades of professional experience with multiple
assignments e.g. Deputy Registrar, Deputy Controller at various universities.
Research Funding
The researchers/faculty members at University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila are actively engaged in R&D projects in all
engineering disciplines. The researchers with the support of ORIC are trying to explore all kinds of funding avenues at National
and International level to develop indigenous R&D solutions/products and commercialization for the socio-economic growth, therefore,
the UET, Taxila is part of following National Centres :-
- Swarm Robotics Lab under National Centre of for Robotics and Automation
- Deep Packet Inspection Lab under National Centre of Cyber Security
Along with these National Centres, the faculty has won 08 NRPU, 07 TDF, 02 PRICA and 01 PSF funded projects, those are in
progress. The most of these projects are in collaboration with National/International Academic and Industrial partners.
Overall, our faculty has funded projects worth more than Rupees 250 million.
