6th Alumni Reunion of UET Taxila was organized on Saturday April 15, 2017 at main campus, UET, Taxila. It was a remarkable event in the history of UET, Taxila. More than 1000 alumni were attended the event. They were appreciated the efforts made by UET administration and Alumni team to organize such a successful event and provide them an opportunity to revive their memories and to connect with alumni and their Alma Mater. They also expected to attend such events in future. The event was started with recitation from the Holy Quran. The worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar welcomed the guests and shared some valuable memories from his life experience. He highlighted the importance of updating the knowledge for an engineer. He shared the progress and future development plans of UET, Taxila during his tenure for uplifting the University in higher ranks.
The guest of honor for the event was Engr. Hafeezullah K. Niazi. He appreciated the efforts of university administration to organize such a wonderful event and shared his affiliation with UET, Taxila. He shared the memories of his student life in UET, Taxila. He also shared his proud feelings to be there as a chief guest and got an opportunity to re-connect with his Alma Mater. The ceremony of distributing the gold medals, shields and certificates among eminent alumni was also held to encourage and appreciate their role in socio-economic development of the country.
The ex-vice chancellors and retired professors of UET, Taxila were honored with shields for their contribution in the development of university. Dr. Nabeel Hayat Chairman NESCOM shared his views after receiving Gold Medal. Other Alumni Members also shared their feelings voluntarily. Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Kamal, President, Alumni showed his feelings of gladness for taking the association to such a remarkable height. He also shared the memories of his past days in UET, Taxila. He got emotional to revive the old times of UET, Taxila by sharing some memorable events with the guests. He discussed the mission and objectives of the alumni association. He shared the future plans of the association with the guests and launched the plan of construction of alumni center at UET, Taxila. The lunch was served in a pleasant environment. After that cricket match was played between alumni and officials of UET, Taxila.
With phenomenal increase in students' enrollment in 1970's, a plan to establish additional campuses of the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore was conceived. As a result of that, the University College of Engineering Taxila was established.
